The Company was first incorporated under the name of Itama Sdn Bhd on 2 June 1979; then subsequently changed its name to IGB Fibre-Cement products Sdn Bhd and later on to Jasa Megah Industries Sdn Bhd on 30 July 1984. In July 1991 after having converted to a public company and taking on the name of Jasa Megah Industries Berhad, the company was listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia (formerly known as the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange) on 18 August 1992.
Originally involved in the manufacturing of fibre cement pipes and high density polyethylene pipes, the Company further acquired 80% equity interest in Ikatan Engineering Sdn Bhd in 1992, successfully broadening its manufacturing base to involve mechanical engineering, equipment fabrication and installation, as well as general contracting. An additional 30% interest acquisition in Tenaga Kimia Sdn Bhd gave the company a vested interest in the industrial explosives sector in Malaysia.
Then in 1995, the acquisition of Tropicana Golf & Country Resort significantly marked Dijaya’s business diversification and its first venture into the real property industry. Subsequently, the Group’s present name – Dijaya Corporation Berhad – was formally assumed on 3 June 1997 in order to better reflect the change in the Group’s overall core business to resort and property development and other related activities.
The Group, together with its subsidiaries, has since continued to increase their accumulated land bank with the acquisition of more landed properties in strategic locations, assembling its successes - one after the other. One to take particular note of is the acquisition of Bakat Rampai Sdn Bhd in 1998, which led to further increase of Dijaya’s range of property development projects, effectively crossing the residential, commercial and retail segments within the Petaling Jaya City region.
