Seven dream homes win awards

PETALING JAYA: This year’s haven/The Edge My Dream Home Awards saw seven winners made up of three Gold Award winners and four Silver Award winners.

The awards are divided into three categories namely the semi-detached/detached category, the terraced category and the condominium category. There was a Gold winner for each of the three categories, one Silver winner in the semi-detached/detached and condominium categories and two Silver winners in the terraced category.

Many of the homeowners of the winning entries were the architects or designers of the homes themselves.

The home of architect Hud Abu Bakar and wife, interior designer Nadiah Micaela Rodriguez, in Damansara Indah Resort Homes emerged the Gold Award winner in the semi-detached/detached category while the Silver Award went to David and Wendy Liew’s home in Bukit Gita Bayu, Seri Kembangan, Selangor, designed by Murzuki Awang of Pentago Landscape.

Owners of the winning homes received their awards at a ceremony last Saturday at 1 Utama Shopping Centre, Petaling Jaya. Alliance Bank is the main sponsor of the awards organised by haven and The Edge in association with the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) and Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (IPDM). This is the second year of the contest with the addition of the condominium category.

In the terraced category, the Gold Award went to a home in Taman Overseas Union, Jalan Kelang Lama, Kuala Lumpur owned by architect Chang Ye Shin and Kh’ng C F. Ong Tien Ling and wife architect Goh Han Shin took the Gold Award in the condominium category for their Sophia Condominium home in Mont’Kiara, KL.

The judges were Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd Group CEO Datuk Bridget Lai, PAM president Lee Chor Wah, IPDM president Hussein Hamzah, fashion designer Rizalman Ibrahim and Au Foong Yee, editor of haven and The Edge executive editor of property and retailing.
