Dijaya Corp Bhd is back for its fourth consecutive year in the Kuala Lumpur Rat Race. Its runners have been training since the beginning of the month, meeting every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The company will also be fielding a team of cheerleaders for the cheerleading competition.
Team leader James Thor is no stranger to the competition, having participated the last two years, and leading his team to second place. He and his team mates hope to do better this time around.
Communications and promotions manager Serena Lim said having the Rat Race is a good way for the corporate sector to do its part for charity. “What’s great about the event is that it’s an informal affair which gives everyone the opportunity to have fun while raising funds for the selected beneficiaries at the same time. It also encourages teamwork and strengthens relationships among staff, some of whom do not meet regularly,” added Lim.
Dijaya is known for its philanthropic efforts. It was among the first to contribute to the Myanmar Relief Fund and also donated to the tsunami victims in Aceh. Locally, its charity efforts include organising charity golf tournaments and contributing to UTAR’s student loan fund.
“We are always ready to extend a helping hand and support charitable causes. The Kuala Lumpur Rat Race is another opportunity for us to fulfil our corporate social responsibility, so yes, we will definitely participate again in the coming years.
“After all, it’s fantastic and well organised, so why not?” said Lim.
